Dr. Kulp is an Assistant Professor of Geology and Director of the Coastal Research Laboratory within the Department of Geology and Geophysics
and the Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Sciences at the University of New Orleans.  His research focuses on the sedimentary framework
and evolution of the Mississippi River delta system and Louisiana coastal plain in response to changes in sediment supply, sea-level rise, and subsidence.
Some of his current investigations include the relationship between marsh health and substrate subsidence, the evolution of Louisiana barrier islands and
inlets in response to coastal erosion and interior wetland loss, and latest Quaternary north-central Gulf Coast stratigraphy and patterns and processes of subsidence.
