Dr. Kulp is an Assistant Professor of Geology and Director of the Coastal Research Laboratory
within the Department of Geology
and Geophysics
and the Pontchartrain Institute for
Environmental Sciences at the University
of New Orleans. His research focuses on the sedimentary
framework
and evolution of the Mississippi River delta system and Louisiana
coastal plain in response to changes in sediment supply, sea-level
rise, and subsidence.
Some of his current investigations include the relationship between
marsh health and substrate subsidence, the evolution of Louisiana
barrier islands and
inlets in response to coastal erosion and interior wetland loss, and
latest Quaternary north-central Gulf Coast stratigraphy and patterns
and processes of subsidence.
